VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM
Thanks for taking the time to apply to volunteer at Townsville Folk Festival.
The Townsville Folk Festival is organised by the Townsville Folk and Acoustic Music Club Inc. which is a group of local, hard-working, fun-loving volunteers.
Our vision is to give our local community (and visitors) an opportunity to spend a weekend camping with family & friends 'for the love of music and humanity'. Your assistance helps us turn our vision into a reality. We thank you for your time and dedication.
Each volunteer must dedicate at least 8 hours of their time to the festival. Most hours will be done in 4-hour blocks or as organised with your Volunteer Team Leader. As a volunteer, you will receive a full season (4 nights) camping pass to the festival.
* Under 18's can volunteer provided they have parental permission and are accompanied by an adult, roles will be allocated to suit age.
Key Dates
Volunteer Orientation: In early May a number of orientation sessions will be arranged. These will be confirmed following receipt of your signed contract. It is important that all volunteers complete this session.
Festival Dates: 6-8 June 2025
Festival Set Up Dates: 1-5 June 2025
Festival Pack Down Dates: 9-11 June 2025

These are the Volunteer Roles
Festival Set Up
Assist with building the festival site/community village. Needed from 1st to 5th June. Possible jobs include erecting marquees, setting up temporary fencing, marking out temporary roads etc, good position for the fit & strong, and if you have a trade, we want to hear from you!!
These shifts are for the full day and you will be fed both lunch and the evening meal.
Festival Pack Down
The reverse of the above, needed on Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th.

Beautification and Art Installation Set Up and Pack Down
Assist in erecting and dismantling of the art deco & lighting needed for creating the festival atmosphere. There will be a need to be up and down ladders, so if that doesn't bother you, please apply.
Gate Welcome and Ticketing / Directors of First Impressions
Being at the front gate, this is the first point of contact for our visitors, so suits friendly and outgoing people. Roles include greeting, collecting tickets from visitors, scanning tickets and wrist-banding. When not busy, you do get to sit down!!
Traffic Management
Ensuring cars are going where they need to be to keep everyone safe. Bring your camp chair and rest when not needed!
Camping Peacekeepers
Also suits friendly and outgoing people. This role is to assist the campground coordinator to ensure everyone is having a great time and ensuring camp fires have 2 buckets of water. This is not a confrontational position, if you see something not right, report to the Campground Coordinator and they will sort it with security.
Oasis Kitchen Hands
Assisting in the performer kitchen area with meal prep and general cleaning of kitchen and bathroom area. Good spot to be if you like hanging out with the muso's!
Chai Tent volunteers
This role involved making chai, serving customers, cleaning dishes, wiping down tables & looking after our cup library. We are looking for people with people skills, happy to get involved in brewing chai, handling cash and having basic food handling skills.
Artist Transport
This important job involves collecting our visiting performers from the airport and bringing them to the festival site. You would need a current driver’s licence and be comfortable driving a people mover (up to 12 passengers) and tow a trailer. The bonus is you get to chat with our super interesting artists for an hour each way.
Performers Experience Assistants
This role will entail driving a buggy between the performer camp area and festival site for transport of performers and their instruments. Will need to be 25+ and sober to drive the buggy.
Festival Site Crew
Help us keep the festival site clean and tidy. Includes litter collection, dust control, waste management. Will include a customer service aspect in assisting patrons and educating on waste control. These energetic, friendly folk are amongst our most valued volunteers.
Stage Managers
Assist in the flow of the stages, ensuring bands are ready to go and key messages are delivered by MC's.
Stage MC's
The MCs introduce our performers on stage and deliver key messages in between band set-up. Suits those who are confident in speaking to large crowds.
Stage Sound Assistants
Assist the sound engineer with setting up bands and is an opportunity to learn more about how we help our artists to sound amazing.
Kids Festival and Youth Arts
If you really enjoy working with younger people, this is the place to be. Suits people who are creative and cheery and just generally young at heart.
Festival Merchandise Shop
Retail experience is helpful, but not essential. Assist in selling festival and performer merchandise. Also a great spot for friendly and outgoing people. The merch tent is in the centre of the festival site so you can see everything that is going on across the festival.
